OVERVIEW

What’s going on this month…

HEIDI: The Sun moves into Aquarius at 1:00 am Pacific time on January 20th. The power of the group sings through Aquarius. Whatever we do, we do it together. Aquarius is innovative and electric. We improvise, reinvent and break out of anything too confining. We can use Aquarius for fresh starts and problem solving. And we can certainly use this potent energy to build and enjoy our community.

On January 20th, when the Sun moves into Aquarius, it is also the day of the Full Moon. In Esoteric Astrology at the Full Moon time, we honor the sign the SUN is in. So, we call this moon the Full Moon of Aquarius. This is a great opportunity to work with and call in our allies. What can we build with our community? It’s also a powerful window to distribute our own Leo gift. Let’s pour our gifts forth for those that could benefit.

On January 23rd, Mercury moves into Aquarius. Now the planet of communication enters this innovative energy as well. This is the perfect time to think about things in a new way and from a different perspective. You might suddenly realize that the solution to a problem is closer than you could imagine. It’s an excellent brainstorming cycle.

Venus moves into Capricorn on February 3rd. This signals a period of accomplishment and ambition. We take our creativity seriously at this time. We commit in matters of love. We grow more determined to spend our time and money on what we truly value. We enjoy the climb.

The New Moon of Aquarius falls on February 4th. We plant the seeds of our next group endeavor. We ask how we might benefit the most people with what we have to give. We are electric and enlivening. We have faith that our innovative ideas will take root. We continue to work to bring change in the areas we care most about.

Mercury will only spend a couple of weeks in Aquarius before it moves into Pisces on February 10th. This heralds the approaching Pisces month. Mercury in Pisces offers a strong intuitive connection. We are also dreamier and our feeling-sensitivity is strong. We may not be as clear and direct as usual, but we make up for it with a sense of vastness and spaciousness and possibility in our communications.

Finally, on Valentine’s Day, Mars moves into Taurus, a great sign of desire. Under Taurus, we all work to change our desire to aspiration. We look to use our Will to fulfill our highest calling. Mars in Taurus gives us steady strength. We can do a lot of hard work under this combination.

Use this month of Aquarius to call in the new. Summon your allies. Think with objectivity and clarity. Brainstorm. Give your gift in community. Shift your focus away solely from I and invest in the potent WE. Have an electric and exciting month!

What does all of this mean for your career? Let’s look closer…

JOB HUNTING?

Here’s what you need to know…

ELLEN: As Heidi mentioned, on January 23rd, Mercury moves into Aquarius. Now the planet of communication joins the sun and enters this innovative sphere, this is the perfect time to think about your job search in a new way and from a different perspective.

You could start by asking yourself, “What’s one thing about my job search that is not make sense?” Or… “One thing that’s really inefficient?” Or… “One thing that’s just not working smoothly?”

It could be that you need to take a new approach to how you are approaching things. Ellen’s 5-week class RELAUNCH is the perfect solve. The class is all about using Design Thinking: goal setting, taking small steps, watching them add up to big changes and bringing new energy into your life and career.

There is still room in the online class that starts on January 22. And there will be a new class starting the end of February. Go to my website and check it out.

Or if you want to think outside the box, Aquarius style, purchase Chart Your Career, a new offering from Heidi and me. An hour of astrology with Heidi. An hour of Career advice with me. Plus, a follow-up of next steps via email with ton of links and to do’s.

By the time Mars moves into Taurus on Valentine’s Day, you will be ready to use your will to fulfill your highest calling. Mars in Taurus gives us steady strength. You will do a lot of hard work under this combination.

Lastly, if you’re job-hunting, remember that the sign of Aquarius is all about group dynamics. The energy of many is greater than that of one. Think: “Collaboration.”

Rather than job-hunting all by yourself, meet up with friends. Host a dinner party, cocktail hour, or brunch. Ask questions like: “Do you happen to know anybody who works at {name of company}? Could you make an introduction for me?” “What do you think about your current workplace?” “Would you recommend working there? “Why or why not?”

More often than not, exciting job opportunities arise because of personal connections. To unlock all kinds of surprising doors, don’t isolate yourself. Turn to your community.

ALREADY HAVE A JOB?

Here’s what you need to know…

ELLEN: The power of the group sings through Aquarius.

It’s also a powerful window to distribute your own Leo gift to those that could benefit.

This would be a great time for a group off-site to look at where the company is and where it is going. Look at how you can all change the dynamic at work to make it more innovative.

Ask yourselves: Are you aligning with a higher cause? Do you have a mission you connect with every day? Do you feel like you have a space to be of service or do work for the greater whole? Are you connecting with visionary ideas? New perspectives? Reading inspiring books?

Maybe start a book club at work? Or a writing class? Check out Laurie Wagner’s 27 Wild Days writing prompts. Do it as a group for a month.

Maybe plan a summer internship program for college students that might want to learn more about your industry.

Or, spearhead an exciting new project at your company, like a diversity initiative, a wellness program, or a lunchtime series featuring inspirational speakers. Write down what your “next level” would look like and go for it!

SELF-EMPLOYED OR RUNNING YOUR OWN BUSINESS?

Here’s what you need to know…

These three upcoming transits can have great impact on all of you self-employed entrepreneurs:

Venus moves into Capricorn on February 3rd. This signals a time of accomplishment and ambition. We grow more determined to spend our time and money on what we truly value.

The New Moon of Aquarius falls on February 4th. We plant the seeds of our next group endeavor. We have faith that our innovative ideas will take root.

Mercury will only spend a couple of weeks in Aquarius before it moves into Pisces on February 10th. We are dreamier and our feeling-sensitivity is strong.

So, what does this all mean? COLLABORATE! Aquarius creates fertile ground for teamwork. It’s a great time to reach out to a potential business partner, add a new employee to your team, and/or start planning a community-driven project.

If you run a yoga studio, for example, you could collaborate with a physical therapist. Working together, you could plan a workshop focusing on yoga moves that are safe for people struggling with bad backs, wonky necks, and other frustrating injuries. Together, you’ll rise higher!

For inspiration, read Grace Bonney’s Good Company magazine that comes out quarterly. The first issue is all about community. The second about fearlessness. Flip through and read a few pages whenever you need a creative boost.

Also, this would be a great time to join a co-working space. There are so many great spots in cities everywhere for women to gather and be in community. It is a life saver if you work for yourself.

Mercury in Pisces is a great time to communicate with your clients and customers—especially if you’re sharing a tender, heartfelt message.

Think: a 1-minute video expressing your gratitude for every customer who made a purchase in the last year. Or record a 5-minute meditation and share it on your blog. Or send out a newsletter with a touching story about an experience that changed your life. You’ll be surprised by how many people respond to say, “Thank you. That was beautiful. I really needed to hear that today.

Famous Aquarians

Aquarians are deep thinkers and highly intellectual people who love helping others. They are able to see without prejudice, on both sides, which makes them people who can easily solve problems.

People born under this sign include:

Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln was an American statesman and lawyer who served as the 16th President of the United States from March 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. Lincoln led the United States through the American Civil War—its bloodiest war and perhaps its greatest moral, constitutional, and political crisis.

Lincoln’s Aquarian nature served him well. He made far-reaching, out of the box decisions. He often broke with tradition, going as far as to select his previous political enemies to serve on his cabinet.

Galileo Galilei

Considered the father of modern science, Galileo Galilei (1564-1642) made major contributions to the fields of physics, astronomy, cosmology, mathematics and philosophy. He invented an improved telescope that let him observe and describe the moons of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn, the phases of Venus, sunspots and the rugged lunar surface.

His flair for self-promotion earned him powerful friends among Italy’s ruling elite and enemies among the Catholic Church’s leaders. His advocacy of a heliocentric universe brought him before religious authorities in 1616 and again in 1633, when he was forced to recant and placed under house arrest for the rest of his life.

Rosa Parks

Rosa Parks was an American activist in the civil rights movement best known for her pivotal role in the Montgomery Bus Boycott. The United States Congress has called her “the first lady of civil rights” and “the mother of the freedom movement”

Her refusal to surrender her seat to a white male passenger on a Montgomery, Alabama bus, December 1, 1955, triggered a wave of protest December 5, 1955 that reverberated throughout the United States. Her quiet courageous act changed America, its view of black people and redirected the course of history.

Jackie Robinson

Jack Roosevelt Robinson was an American professional baseball player who became the first African American to play in Major League Baseball in the modern era. Robinson broke the baseball color line when the Brooklyn Dodgers started him at first base on April 15, 1947.

Robinson’s character, his use of nonviolence and his unquestionable talent challenged the traditional basis of segregation which then marked many other aspects of American life. He influenced the culture of and contributed significantly to the civil rights movement. After his death in 1972, in recognition of his achievements on and off the field, Robinson was posthumously awarded the Congressional Gold Medal and Presidential Medal of Freedom.
